VINTAGE PORSCHE BURSTS INTO FLAMES
A vintage Porsche on its way to the collectors car event Concours de Elegance at Hampton Court Palace went up in flames earlier today.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Two fire engines and around ten firefighters were called to a fire involving two cars at 1036 on Church Street in Hampton on Sunday 6 September.
“The cars were completely destroyed by fire. The Brigade’s Control officers received 12 calls alerting them to the fire. The fire was under control by 1117.”
Eye-witness Tom Gaymor, who captured video footage of the fire, said the car was on the way to the big event when it suddenly burst into flames.
Another witness said: “The fire brigade did very well to contain the fire as quickly as they did.”
Grey billowing smoke could be seen for miles around but no-one was injured in the incident. Teddington Town has requested a comment from the London Fire Brigade.
